FakeVerify

This application is an APK designed to replace the Android Developer Verifier com.google.android.verifier, which is being forced into Android to strengthen Google's market monopoly, and to prevent its reinstallation.

Normally, Android cannot overwrite and install an app with the same ID but a different signature. By leveraging this restriction, the goal is to install this APK with the same ID as the Android Developer Verifier and block the legitimate verifier from being installed.

Because this APK is intended to block installation by exploiting a signature mismatch, it contains no code or activity. In fact, Android treats an APK that contains no code as a corrupted APK, so the APK includes only the minimal code necessary to avoid that, but it effectively does nothing.

At this point, it is unclear whether it actually works. Since I live in Japan, I am not part of the full rollout after September, so I can't guarantee its effectiveness until 2027 at the earliest. (Although it's likely that before 2027 some EU or other agency will sanction Google and revoke developer verification.)

The installation of the Android Developer Verifier is performed in the background so that users do not notice it (Google always does this).
If you find it, delete it immediately and install this APK. Even if it has not yet been installed, install this right away to prevent it from being installed.
Also, don't forget this: if your Android device is rooted and you have enabled a feature that disables APK signature verification, please disable it. Otherwise there's a risk that the app could be overwritten and installed.

And... Please follow the instructions from Keep Android Open and don't forget to take action!
